The Account Managers I work with act as mentors and are very supportive of my future goals. They have helped me improve my outreach, my demo leading process, and my knowledge of Preqin as a whole.

What are you responsible for at Preqin?

I’m currently a Client Success Manager in our Chicago office. I am responsible for client engagement, platform training, and opportunity sourcing.

What advice would you give to someone who would like to have a career in Sales?

The advice I would give someone who would like to have a career in Sales would be to view yourself as a problem solver. You are not selling a potential prospect a product. You are selling them a solution. As a Client Success Manager, I believe it's important to remain both a student and a teacher. Meaning, you should always be learning more about your clients and using that knowledge to better service their needs.

For example, recently we noticed low usage by one of our clients. By doing some research, I discovered that they were actively fundraising for a newly established fund. I reached out to this client with a solution to their fundraising efforts by not only providing them with relevant contacts, but by also giving them step-by-step instructions on how they can create lists just like the one I provided. This one approach allowed me and the Account Manager to set up a follow up meeting with the entire team!

What are the big opportunities ahead for you and your team?

One big opportunity ahead for me and the Client Success Team would be that we are implementing new software into our workflow. This will allow us to reach our clients easier and make our daily process more efficient.

What is your favorite thing about working at Preqin?

My favorite thing about working at Preqin would have to be the growth opportunities. Not only can you grow within your own role, but you can also branch off into different roles that may spark your interests and make good use of your talents.

For example, I have a current goal of becoming an Account Manager for Preqin. In my role, I have the opportunity to work very closely with Account Managers. This exposes me to their processes, knowledge, and skills required to excel in the position. The Account Managers I work with act as my mentors and are very supportive of my future goals. They have helped me improve my outreach, my demo leading process, and my knowledge of Preqin as a whole.

How would you describe your day-to-day?

The best way I can describe my day-to-day at Preqin would be that I honestly do not have a day-to-day. Each day is unique, challenging, and rewarding because my tasks and responsibilities shift based on my clients’ needs, requests, and inquiries. This makes every day dynamic and interesting!

What are your tips for starting a new job remotely?

My biggest tip for starting a new job remotely would be to keep a morning routine as if you were still heading to a physical office. Keeping a good routine definitely sets your day up for success and keeps you motived throughout the day.
